I have always thought that it would be an amazing experience to backpack through Europe. Make sure that if you decide to backpack through Europe that you pack correctly. You need to pack for the right weather, know exactly where and when you’ll be staying at different locations, and make sure that you have enough money. Here are some places that I have always wanted to see that would be ideal to backpack to!

Rome, Italy

Rome is a city that is very well-known. It is known for its history, culture, beauty, ruins, and delicious Italian food. Rome might be a city full of tourists, but for good reason. You can visit the Trevi Fountain, the Colosseum, St. Peter’s Basilica, and many more! If you backpack here, you can stay at a campsite or an Airbnb for a very low price (anywhere from $12 and up a night).

Madrid, Spain

This is also a very popular tourist destination, which makes it perfect for backpackers. There are plenty of hostels and inexpensive hotels to stay in and they offer inexpensive food because they are all in competition with each other. You can visit the Museo del Prado, the Reina Sofia Museum, the Plaza Mayor, and many others for free. You can stay in hostels here starting at about $16 a night!

Santorini, Greece

Santorini is so beautiful that it attracts visitors and backpackers from all over the world. This city has vineyards, theaters, museums, and different archaeological sites. There’s even stunning beaches and each beach has different amenities. Some beaches are very busy and some are quiet. It depends on the atmosphere that you are looking for! Food can be very affordable if you visit some of the family owned Taverna’s. There are many in the picturesque town of Oia. Santorini has wonderful hostels that start at about $9 a night!

Istanbul, Turkey

This is definitely a place for backpackers who are also foodies. Istanbul is home to the Grand Bazaar and to many other high-rated restaurants. If you are not a foodie, however, there are still great sites to see! Istanbul is full of historical sites, museums, and a lot of culture. You can even visit historic Turkish baths for a relaxing day. Hostels here start at about $7 a night!

Krakow, Poland

This is a place to visit if you want the history without the expensive price tag. The city center is full of history and there is even a medieval castle. Along with this, they have a variety of different restaurants. Krakow is also only an hour from Auschwitz, which is the most well-known concentration camp from World War II. This is where you can visit the past and pay your respects to those who lost their lives there. It would be a life-changing experience. Krakow has hostels that are either in the city or right outside starting at $9 a night!

Of course, there are many other amazing places that you can backpack to in Europe. These just happen to be the ones on the top of my list if I ever get around to backpacking!

XOXO,

Have Some Wanderlust
