It's Greek to Me

If I had to pick the most beautiful place in the world, I would definitely say that Greece is the clear winner. It’s filled with clear blue waters, beautiful islands, and amazing food.
If you’re anything like me, you hate feeling like a tourist, even though you may be one. The two islands that I will be talking about are not filled with tourists. This way, you can still experience Greece, but feel like a local!
The first island is called Kalamata. This is actually where my family is from, so I might be a little biased. However, this island’s beauty is beyond compare. Also, they are known for their olives! Be sure to check those out if you visit. If you are looking for a cheaper place to eat lunch or dinner, Ta Rolla has received excellent reviews. It is very popular among the locals and everyone raves about the food. If you are looking for something more expensive, Luna Lounge is also wonderful. It is a bar and a restaurant, so it is suitable for all ages. They even have some music nights, which the locals seem to love. In addition, if you want to get your tan on in between meals, Mikri Mantineia is the place to be. It is located on the eastern Messinian Gulf coastline, and has bars, music, sparkling blue water for swimming, and even a water sports station. This is definitely the hot spot!
The second island is called Crete. This is another beautiful island, but is not overly filled with tourists. There are two restaurants that seem to be very popular with the locals. The first is called Methexis, which serves unusual dishes (such as lamb with oysters), but the food is delicious. It is fairly priced, with the price averaging €18–23 per person. The scenery surrounding it is beautiful and will definitely not disappoint! Another restaurant to try is called Bakaliko. This place is a deli, cooking school, and sit-down eatery all in one. They seem to serve it all, from all-day breakfast, lunch, dinner, desserts, and even a wine-tasting menu.
There is something for everyone, so be sure to try it out! Again, if you want to get your tan on in between meals, Matala is the place to be. Not only is it a beach, but there is also a cave to explore, cliffs to jump off of, and wonderful music to listen to. There is something for all different types of adventurous, or not adventurous, people there!
If you plan on visiting Greece, these two islands definitely need to be on the top of your list. So, go out and buy your plane ticket (and an extra one for me)!
XOXO,
Have Some Wanderlust
