Choosing a form of travel can be the hardest part of planning your trip. Some ways are cheaper, some ways are more fun, and some ways are much more convenient than others. It all depends on your preference. However, here are the pros and cons to each!

Planes

Pros:

A plane travels much faster than other modes of transportation. Therefore, it shortens your travel time. The further the destination, the more time you save. You do not need to worry about traffic or pit stops. It is much more relaxing because there are no worries about driving or having to pay attention while you travel to your destination.

Cons:

Having to arrive early and go through security is something that takes a long time and is a huge inconvenience. There are layovers and delays which can increase your travel time. Flights are very expensive and the more people you are traveling with, the more money you are going to spend.

Trains

Pros:

Riding the train is much more comfortable than other modes of transportation. Depending on where you are sitting, you can spread out your legs and make yourself comfortable. You can still see the beautiful scenery while on the train and it is nice to look at while you are traveling to your destination.Trains have quiet cars where you can sit if you want to be surrounded by silence. This way, you can enjoy your ride without being surrounded by screaming kids and loud commuters.

Cons:

Trains are the slowest method of travel, so you will not arrive at your destination in a timely manner. It definitely takes a while to arrive where you need to be.Some train tickets might be cheap, depending on where you need to go. However, the further you need to go, the more and more expensive the tickets get. You are paying a lot of money to take a long time to get to your destination.Motion sickness plays a huge role when traveling by train. They move differently than planes or cars, and some people do not deal well with it.

Ships

Pros:

Everything is at your fingertips! Every restaurant, pool, recreational activity, and more are right there on the ship! The only time you need to leave the ship during the vacation is when the ship docks at a beautiful port. The food on cruise ships is actually very good. Of course, it depends on the ship, but I have never had a bad meal on a cruise before. You can also eat almost whenever you want, because food is almost always available. The ships themselves are also beautiful! Everywhere you look has either amazing decorations or amazing views. You really can’t go wrong.

Cons:

Unless you have the money to afford a nice room, then you are going to be staying in a room that is very tiny. By tiny, I mean that you can be sitting on the toilet and reach the sink to wash your hands at the same time. There is no room to breathe in some of those cabins. The price can get very expensive without you even realizing it. If you do not get drink or food packages, then your bill can rack up quickly with each drink and meal you have. You need to be very careful not to spend too much. You do not always get to spend a lot of time at your actual destination. Sometimes, you spend more time cruising to the destination than you do at the actual destination.

Cars

Pros:

You can be as flexible you want while driving to your destination. You can stop wherever and whenever you want, drive at your own pace, and pack as much as you want (or whatever you can fix in the trunk). You can bring your pets! Since it is your own car, you make the rules. If you want to bring your pets on the trip with you, there is no one that can stop you. They make the best travel companions. It can also be much cheaper. Yes, you will have to pay for gas, but you do not have to pay for flights. Also, if your car is big enough, you can always sleep in the car so that you don’t have to pay for hotels!

Cons:

Depending on where you are going, it can take a very long time to get to your destination. You can get bored and tired very easily. You can’t drive everywhere. For example, you can’t just decide to road trip to Hawaii because then you’d have to drive through the ocean. Not every destination fits a road trip.Bad weather can also put a damper on your trip. If it rains or snows, it can become dangerous to drive and you will have to put your trip on pause.

The next time you are planning a trip, consider all of these pros and cons to figure out which mode of transportation is the best for you!

XOXO,

Have Some Wanderlust
